"The "Black Holes" series is the result of research work with the Black pigment. Both that traditionally marketed in the artistic field, and in the workplace. Such is the case of ivory black, smoke black, oxide black, spark plug black, black latex, synthetic black BLK 30, black converter... up to petroleum black - asphalt paint. The same as "Epiphany", became a discovery during the isolation of 2020; as well as my main tool of expression.
This happened because not being able to buy materials during this time, it was from remnants of paint stored in my workshop that I was able to continue producing works. In this Series I use both industrial asphalt paint and the Black Mirror BETA artistic presentation. In some canvases I use the dry surfaces of enamels, varnishes, lacquers and protectors, extracting the rigid circles that have formed on top of the paints and then applying them to previously asphalt-coated canvases.
"Black Holes" is the first large-format abstract series made by the artist. With a carefree and often subjective and spontaneous imprint, Federico Ferrari achieves a painting of great gestural beauty that highlights his sensitive capacity and plastic invoice from the use of limited colors using industrial materials. Ferrari manages to capture a three-dimensional universe, often without visual limits on the surface of the work, which invites the viewer to take a journey, enter and succumb to a unique, contemplative and personal experience."
